How is CNC used to make furniture?

2023-05-24

While CNC machines are typically used in industrial settings to make metal parts, they can also be used to make wood products such as tables, shelves, doors, restaurant chairs, and other furniture. In a typical setup, a saw or router is first used to cut the wood into pieces of the desired size and shape.

These pieces are then sanded smooth and taken to a CNC machine where they are held in place by a clamping system. The CNC machine then uses a variety of tools to precisely shape the wood according to specifications programmed into the computer.

Once the molding is complete, the pieces are ready to be assembled into finished furniture. Because of the accuracy and versatility of CNC machines, they have become a must-have tool for many furniture manufacturers.
